Marcia Brunsvold
Marcia Kay Brunsvold, 78, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
A family conducted memorial service for Marcia will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa with Pastor Kimberly Belken officiating. Burial will follow at Swede Valley Cemetery south of Ogden, Iowa. Arrangements were entrusted to Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Marcia Kay Karstens, daughter of Raymond and Emily (Schlueter) Karstens was born on June 6, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa. She attended Crestland Schools graduating with the Crestland High School class of 1964. Following high school, Marcia attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. She then attended Johnson County Community College Nursing Program where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. Marcia began her nursing career at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where she was a Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse. Over her career, she had also worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was also a Nursing Home Director in Stillwater and Enid Oklahoma. Marcia completed her nursing career as a Healthcare Finder at Vance Air Force Base for the United States Air Force in Enid, Oklahoma until retiring due to her failing health.
On December 27, 1964 Marcia was united in marriage to Arlee Brunsvold at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa where she had also been confirmed. To this union four children were born: Thayne, Julie, Jody, and Todd.
Marcia was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden where she directed the Tuesday morning bible study for 22 years, and was active in Questers. Marcia loved acting and singing in her church and also wrote a Christmas program for the kids. She also loved flower gardening and above all, spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was also preceded in death by her brother, Duane Karstens; sister, Darla Karstens; and her nephew Lance Karstens.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59+ years, Arlee Brunsvold of Boone; four children, Thayne Brunsvold of Florida, Julie (Kenn) Larson of Titonka, Jody Brunsvold of Kansas City, MO, Todd (Russ Haynie) of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Luke Larson, and Brett and Jackson Brunsvold; three brothers, Merle (Karen) Karstens, Eugene (Marian) Karstens, Lyle (Marietta) Karstens, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
