Robert Burgess

Robert Eugene Burgess, 70, of Ogden, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Bob was born in Boone, Iowa on July 11, 1953, the son of Robert Henry.

Burgess and Mildred “Billie” (Wass) Burgess. He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1971. Bob was united in marriage to Debbie Jean Chiles on July 9, 1977. He worked for John Deere Ankeny for 33 years. After retirement he worked for Highway Farms in Ogden.

His family will always remember his passion for gardening, canning vegetables, fishing, and of course his love for talking on the telephone.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Burgess; sister, Lorraine Schmidt; and granddaughter, Paige Thede.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debbie Burgess of Ogden; two sons, Chad (Christy) Thede of Ogden, and Jeff (Amy) Thede of Ankeny; eight grandchildren, Caylin Graham, Jordyn Thede, Claire Thede, Ethan Simpson, Carter Thede, Emma Thede, Christian Thede, and Ella Simpson; sister, Barb McNeff; sister Roxie (Doug) Plath; and several

nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 12 p.m.- 2 p.m. at the Leonard Good Community Center, 114 SW 8th Street in Ogden, a luncheon will be served.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
