Ruth C. Zahller

Ruth Caroline Zahller (nee Lundvall) of Eden Prairie, MN passed away November 17,2020. Born September 11, 1924, in Boxholm, IA to the late Martin John and Hilma (nee Engberg) Lundvall.

Ruth excelled in school, graduating at age 17 from Boxholm High School. A graduate of both Iowa State Teacher’s College (now University of Northern Iowa) and Gustavus Adolphus College, Ruth taught lower elementary school in Iowa and spent one year teaching the children of US GIs stationed in Linz, Austria following World War II. In retirement, Ruth enjoyed tutoring, helping many children unlock the magic of reading.

On December 22, 1956, she married Arthur Zahller in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, eldest son, Arthur Edwin, Jr., sister Elsie Lundvall, brothers Paul and Martin (Lauren) Lundvall.

She is survived by her youngest sister, Betty Lundvall, sisters-in-law Catharine Zahller and Marilyn Buck, daughter Caroline Nelson (Jay) and son David Zahller (Helen), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Celebration of life May 14, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eden Prairie, MN. Visitation is at 10 a.m., and the memorial service is at 11 a.m. Inurnment is May 16, 2022 at 11 a.m., Lawn Cemetery, Boxholm, IA. Memorials to Lutheran World Relief, 700 Light St., Baltimore, MD 21230.
