Sharon Lea Heck was born on October 13, 1937, in Perry, Iowa, to Alvin and Lelia (Pommer) Heck. At the age of 4 she moved with her family to a farm South of Ogden. She attended Battin School through the 8th grade and graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1956.
On July 25, 1956, Shay was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Lee Crouse at the Battin Chapel Church east of Ogden. To this union 4 children were born, Jeffrey Lee, Tami Sue, Ronald Dean, and Rusty Alan. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage in July of 2021.
Shay’s hobbies included cooking Sunday dinners for family, crafts, hockey games, scrabble, playing cards and UNO Attack, and shopping trips with “the ladies”. She enjoyed watching her son and son-in-law race and cheering on her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids in all their sports and activities. Shay prided herself on her family and considered them her biggest blessing. She was an avid teddy bear collector. In recent years she enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks on her back deck. Her family would tease her that she had the fattest squirrels in Boone County!
Sharon is survived by her children, Jeff Crouse and Ron Crouse, both of Ogden, Tami (Dean) Hartwig of Boone and Rusty (Lisa) Crouse of Woodward. Grandchildren, Jaimi (J.R.) Jenkins, Jeff (Courtney) Hartwig, Cody (Karley) Gorman, Mindy Gorman, Justin Hartwig, Amanda McCoy (Bryce), Natasha (Alex) Moyer, Derik (Becca) Gustin, Jarrett (Parkar) Crouse, and Sammi (Jared) Kennon. Shay is reunited in heaven with her parents, her husband, Don, great grandson, Keaton James Wirtz, brother, Darrell Heck, and several other family members.
