Myron “Miney” Wilson Hasstedt, 89
Myron “Miney” Wilson Hasstedt, 89 of Urbandale lost his short battle with cancer on June 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 28, 1932, on the family farm outside Ogden, Iowa. Myron was the younger of two sons born to Meinhardt and Elsie (Wilson) Hasstedt. He married Janet Moeller on December 21, 1958. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together while raising three sons.
Early in life, Miney excelled in all sports, but especially basketball. He served in the army during the Korean War and afterwards owned and operated a variety of businesses including: a finance company, a night club, a beverage dispensing business and an air purifying business. He joked on his 70th birthday that he still hasn’t decided what he wanted to do for a career.
His hobbies included fishing, golfing, investing, gardening, snowmobiling, polka dancing and spending time with Janet and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons: Mark, Joel (Denise) and Todd (Shirlee); 5 grandchildren; and 2 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale on Wednesday, June 30 from 5pm to 7pm. A celebration of life will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale on Thursday, July 1 at 10:30am. He will be interred at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.
Memorials may be sent to Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Urbandale.
