Doris Elaine Winterfeld
Doris E. Winterfeld, 90, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa.
A celebration of life service for Doris will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements. Doris Elaine Vipond, daughter of John and Anna (Rice) Vipond II, was born on August 16, 1931 in Beresford, South Dakota. She graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, South Dakota.
On January 14, 1951, Doris was united in marriage to Merlyn Winterfeld in Hudson, South Dakota. To this union, two children were born: Ruth and Gary. They farmed the family farm in northwest Iowa near Sioux Center from 1952 to 1967. The couple moved to Ogden in 1968 where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Hardware.
Doris enjoyed square dancing, tending to her garden, flowers, cooking, canning, traveling, sewing, woodworking, crafting and most of all spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her grandson, Andrew Peck in 2008, sisters, Darlene Steinfadt, and Louvine Howard; and her brother, Jim Vipond.
Survivors include her loving husband, Merlyn; daughter, Ruth, and husband Gerald (“Jerry”) Peck of The Colony, TX; son, Gary Winterfeld and his partner Terry Fisher of Ogden; grandchildren, Ben Winterfeld and his son, Solomon; Whitney (Tyler) Vohs and their children, Zachary, Zoey and Zaiden; Brooke (Tyler) Klotz and their children, Gabe and Rylee; and her sister, Alice Miller.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
