Ogden softball goes through a wild week

It was a crazy week for the Ogden softball team last week. They were scheduled to play five games, but one of them was postponed for what’s becoming a more frequent issue.

Tuesday saw Ogden travel to AC/GC for a contest against the Chargers, but the game was not played. The weather was fine, but rather it was an issue with no umpires available to call the game. So the ‘Dogs got the night off and recouped.

Wednesday was their opening game of the week now as they went to Kuemper Catholic in Carroll. The Bulldogs battled but fell in a 6-4 setback.

It was set to be a busy week last week for the 1-1 Ogden Bulldog baseball team. However, rain saw the postponement of one contest, but Ogden was able to get the rest of them in.

The ‘Dogs were scheduled to be at West Central Valley on Tuesday but a steady rain caused the postponement of the game. No date has been scheduled to make the game up.

The weather has not been kind to the Ogden softball team this past week. In what was set to be a week that saw them play at least five games, saw the first two rained out.

Ogden was set to be at West Central Valley last Tuesday, but it was postponed thanks to a substantial rainfall. No make up date had been announced as of press time.

The Bulldogs then were set to have their home opener on Wednesday night against Boone. However, thanks to more rain, the game was postponed a couple of innings in. They finished up on Saturday night.

Bulldog boys track sees high finishes last week

It was a two meet week for the Ogden boys track and field team last week as they ran against some quality competition on Tuesday and Thursday night.

The Bulldogs went to Southeast Valley on Tuesday night and walked away with a second place finish after scoring 93 team points, only trailing Southeast Valley.

The Ogden girls track and field team competed twice this past week and saw a first place finish on Tuesday night.

The ‘Dogs traveled to Southeast Valley to take part in their invitational. Ogden ran away with the meet with a team score of 182.

Ogden boys golf has busy week

The Ogden boys golf team had a busy week with a couple of meets last week. They started off on Tuesday night at Boone.

Ogden took third place in that meet with a 191. Carroll won with a 171 as Boone was second with 181.

Ty Heeren and Aidan Kathman both shot a 43 to pace the Bulldogs. Hunter Meeks shot a 47 and August Schroeder a 60 to round out the top four.

Ogden then went to Menlo on Thursday night for a four team meet. The ‘Dogs were able to capture second place with a 195. Earlham won the meet with a 175 as Madrid took third and West Central Valley fourth.

Bulldog girls take 1st on Thursday, 2nd on Friday

It was a very successful afternoon on Thursday for the Ogden girls golf team on Thursday night when they went to Menlo. The Bulldogs were able to capture first place with a team of 234 against Earlham and West Central Valley.

Amelia Schroeder shot a 56 to help lead Ogden, and tied her for the medalist spot on the night. Izzy Reutter shot a 57, Meredith Kruse 58 and Josie Hildreth 63 to round out the top four. Laurell Schlenker also competed and shot a 78.

Boys track takes 7th at stacked SEV Invite

The Ogden boys track and field team only had one meet last week as they traveled northwest to Gowrie to take part in the Southeast Valley Boys Invitational. The Bulldogs were put in the Class A competition and finished in seventh place out of the eight teams in the field with 51 points. Roland-Story won the meet with SEV taking second.

Ogden girls track hampered by the weather

It was a difficult week for the Ogden girls track and field team. Not because of their efforts in competition but the weather was uncooperative. The ‘Dogs saw both of their scheduled meets this week get called off.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to go to Algona on Tuesday night but strong thunderstorms kept them home. Thursday night was supposed to be the home invitational, but a strong wind and chilly temperatures forced the cancellation of the event.

Ogden went to Southeast Valley on Tuesday night. They then go to Carroll on Thursday.

Bulldog boys golf team takes 3rd in triangular

The Ogden boys golf team had a lone triangular this past week as they went to Guthrie Center on Monday afternoon to take on AC/GC and Van Meter. The ‘Dogs finished in third with a team score of 214. Van Meter won the meet with a 175 as the Chargers shot a 195.

Aiden Kathman had the best day for Ogden with a 49. Hunter Meeks shot a 40, Jack Downey 56 and August Schroder 59 to round out the top four. Jacob Thompson added a 73 and Caleb Sesker 82.

The boys went to Perry on Tuesday afternoon. They then go to Menlo on Thursday.
