Ogden starts slow against DMC

OGDEN - Tuesday night saw the return of Ogden boys basketball after winter break as they welcomed in Des Moines Christian. The Bulldogs got off to a slow start and were unable to climb out of a hole in a 77-36 defeat.

Bulldogs unable to slow DM Christian

OGDEN - It was the first game after winter break on Tuesday night for the Ogden girls basketball team as they welcomed in the always tough Des Moines Christian team. The Bulldogs were unable to get on track in a 65-9 setback.

DMC built a 26-4 lead after the opening quarter as Ogden continued to struggle on both ends, trailing 49-6 at the halftime break. The Bulldogs went scoreless in the third period and scored three points in the final stanza.

Ogden went 4-for-22 shooting the ball and had 14 rebounds.

Bulldog grapplers compete at WCAC tourney

PLEASANTVILLE - It was one of the biggest Saturdays of the season for the Ogden wrestlers as they took part in the WCAC Tournament back on December 19. While no Bulldogs were able to claim a first place finish, there were a handful that were able to take second.

106: Kolton Munson (Ogden) - 2nd

Quarterfinals - Kolton Munson (Ogden) over Cameron McNulty (West Central Valley) (Fall 0:21)

Semifinals - Kolton Munson (Ogden) over Alex Saxton (Woodward-Granger) (Fall 3:43)

1st Place Match - Tegan Slaybaugh (AC/GC) over Kolton Munson (Ogden) (MD 10-0)

Games against Panorama canceled

The Ogden Bulldogs girls and boys basketball teams were scheduled to have one last game before their Christmas break against Panorama on December 22. However, due to COVID19 concerns, those games were cancelled as Ogden went to their winter break.

The Bulldogs will be back on the hardwood coming up on Tuesday, January 5 when they welcome Des Moines Christian.

Ogden held scoreless in second half

OGDEN - It was a Friday night on the 11th to forget for the Bulldog girls when they welcomed in ACGC. Ogden was unable to get a point on the board in the second half, and a fair amount of turnovers harmed their effort in a 67-13 defeat.

The ‘Dogs were down by 23 after the opening stanza and trailed at halftime, 58-13. ACGC added 19 points over the final 12 minutes.

Emma Moorman led Ogden with five points as Reagan Conley added four. Reagan Church had four rebounds.

Bulldogs drop third straight contest

OGDEN - It was the third game of a busy week for the Ogden hoopers as they welcomed in ACGC to cap off the week’s slate on Friday, December 11. The Bulldogs fell in an early hole once more and were unable to escape in a 68-52 setback.

Ogden grapplers celebrate senior night with two wins

OGDEN - Thursday evening was a special one for the Ogden wrestlers. Not only was it a home meet for the grapplers, it was also Senior Night as honors were given to those who are nearly done with high school. The Bulldogs took on three different teams in three duals, and walked away with a 2-1 record on the night.

Bulldogs pick up first loss

HUMBOLDT - For the first time in the 2020-21 season, the Bulldogs tasted defeat on the hardwood after bowing to a high octane Humboldt Wildcat team, 80-35 as 27 turnovers harmed Ogden in the setback as well as giving up second chance points.

“Humboldt definitely had a size advantage over us, we didn’t box out well enough to keep them off the boards,” Bulldog head coach Scott Church said. “When you don’t box out it turns into second opportunity chances and Humboldt took advantage. We will need to improve in this area moving forward.”

Slow opening frame harms Bulldogs at home

OGDEN - The Ogden girls hoopers welcomed in Van Meter on Tuesday night and saw the first eight minutes go about as poorly as it could have. The slow start led to the ‘Dogs third loss of the season, a 56-21 setback against VM.

Ogden’s offense struggled in the opening eight minutes in the first quarter, registering one point as VM scored 21 to put the Bulldogs in the early hole. The offense found some life in the second period with a 10 point effort, but Ogden trailed at the break, 37-11.

Bulldog basketball is off to a strong start

The Ogden boys basketball team opened their season in fine fashion last Friday night as they easily took care of West Central Valley by a 61-24 score. They dominated from the get-go in building a 44-17 halftime advantage, then kept the pedal down throughout the second half.
