Bulldog girls golf able to get pair of meets in

It was a busy Monday and Tuesday afternoon last week for the Ogden girls golfers. They were able to participate in a pair of meets on the course.

They went to Guthrie Center on Monday night and fell against Van Meter by 10 strokes, 162 to 172.

Meredith Kruse shot a 52 which earned her the medalist spot for her afternoon. Amelia Schroder shot a 59 and Izzy Reutter followed with a 61.

Ogden then competed at Ames on Tuesday before the weather turned for the worse. Reutter led the ‘Dogs with a 49. Schroder shot a 53 and Kruse a 58.

Bulldog boys finish 6th overall at first meet

The Ogden boys track team got to taste competition on Tuesday night this past week when they traveled to Panorama. The Bulldogs were able to score 66 points as a team and finish in sixth place.

Cael Pearson was sixth in the 100 meter dash after a time of 12.42 seconds. Payton Van Sickle was second in the 400 meter dash, finishing in 55.61 seconds as Quintin Hoskins was third after 56.17 seconds. Carson Van Sickle was third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.12 and Linden Seeger was fifth after his time of 2:13.57.

Bulldog girls tie for 3rd at Panorama

It was the first time this spring sports season that the Ogden girls track team was able to get out and compete for points this past Tuesday night when they went to Panorama. The Bulldogs were able to tie for third place with 73 points.

Taydem Graden was able to take third in the 100 meter dash with her time of 14.02 seconds. Kayden Spencer was second in the 1500 meter run after a time of 5:50.84. Dakota Tromblay was fourth in the 3000 meter, finishing in 13:01.46. Taydem Graden was second in the 100 hurdles after a time of 17.84.

Bulldog girls able to compete on the links

The Ogden girls were able to get out on the course twice this past week on Monday and Tuesday nights.

They began their week at home at Don Williams taking on Des Moines Christian and Woodward-Granger. The Bulldogs took second place with a 248. Woodward-Granger won with a 218 and DMC was third with 251.

Josie Hildreth paced Ogden with a 55. Amelia Schroeder shot a 57, Izzy Reutter 64 and Meredith Kruse 72.

Ogden then traveled to North Polk on Tuesday and finished in third place with a 261. Nevada won with a 227 and North Polk was second with 241.

Ogden boys golf competes twice in 2 days

The Ogden boys golf team was able to hit the links twice last week and were able to find some success. They began their week at Don Williams for a home meet and took second place with an overall team score of 194. Des Moines Christian was first and Woodward-Granger third.

Tyler Kathman led the ‘Dogs with a 41. Ty Heeren shot a 46, Aiden Kathman 53 and Hunter Meeks 54 to round out the top four.

Cyclone women push their way to Sweet 16

For the first time in 12 years, the Iowa State women’s basketball team earned a berth to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Cyclones, a three seed in the Greensboro region, hosted a pair of contests on Friday and Sunday night against UT-Arlington and then Georgia to advance on to face the Creighton Blue Jays on Friday at Greensboro, North Carolina.

Iowa State Announces 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame Class

Iowa State Announces 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame Class AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State Letterwinners Club unveiled the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2022 today. Six former Cyclone stars will be inducted into the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday Sept. 23 in a ceremony at the Sukup End Zone Club in Ames.

All six inductees will be honored at halftime of the Iowa State-Baylor game on Saturday Sept. 24.

To be eligible for the Hall of Fame, athletes must be 10 years removed from their final season of competition at Iowa State.

Cyclones Place League-Best Three On First Team; Donarski Named Defensive Player of the Year

Following the best regular season campaign in school history, the Cyclones were rewarded when the Big 12 honors came rolling in on Monday. Iowa State placed a league-high three on the All-Big 12 First Team for the first time in school history with Ashley Joens, Lexi Donarski and Emily Ryan earning nods from the Big 12 coaches. Donarski was also awarded Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Cyclone ever to earn the honor.

It was a busy three day span for a couple of Ogden Bulldog wrestlers as they were busy trying to accomplish their dreams of winning a state championship on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Sophomore Kolton Munson came close with a second place finish in 1A 113 lbs while junior Kale Munson was fifth in 1A 145 lbs. Junior Aiden Kathman also participated in the tournament at 195 lbs.
