Ogden boys go 2-1 over past week

The Ogden boys had a busy week on the basketball court with three games to play. The Bulldogs were able to win a pair of them and narrowly lost another.

The Bulldogs kicked off the week on Monday night at home against Glidden-Ralston. Ogden trailed early but was able to rally and pull away in a 65-42 victory.

Glidden-Ralston jumped out early against the ‘Dogs as Ogden trailed by after the opening frame, 20-12. The game changed in the second quarter as Ogden put up 22 points, holding G-R to just seven to go up 34-27 at halftime.

Bulldog girls continue to show growth on the court

It was a busy week for the Ogden girls basketball team this past week with three games in five nights. The Bulldogs came close not once but twice to getting their first win of the season as their effort continues to show.

Ogden started the week on Monday night at home against Glidden-Ralston. The Bulldogs led through the majority of the night but fell late, 42-40.

The Wildcats held a three-point lead after the opening frame, 12-9. However, Ogden’s defense held G-R to just five points in the second quarter to take a three-point lead of their own at halftime, 20-17.

Bulldog wrestlers keep busy

It was a busy week for the Ogden Bulldog grapplers as they took part in six duals and a tournament this past week. The Bulldogs began their week on Tuesday night in Perry and took on the host school along with South Hamilton and Nevada. Ogden was able to win all three of their duals.

Girls Wrestling to Become 11th IGHSAU Sanctioned Sport in 2022-23

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Board of Directors voted unanimously to sanction girls wrestling as the organization’s 11th sport. The vote was made at the IGHSAU’s January 12th board of directors meeting and was announced prior to the start of the championship round of the IWCOA Girls State Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Coralville. The first IGHSAU-sanctioned season will take place during the 2022-23 school year.

Bulldogs fall in a heartbreaker against Tigers

It was the only game last week for the Ogden Bulldogs but it was a big one as heated rivals Madrid came into the Ogden gymnasium. The Bulldogs gave it everything they had, and then some, but fell in a 59-58 heartbreaker against Madrid.

Ogden tripped up in 1st Rumble for the River

History was made on Tuesday night as the Ogden Bulldogs and Boone Toreadors took part in the first ever, and first annual, Rumble for the River wrestling dual. The ‘Dogs battled all night in every match they took part in, but lost the title to Boone, 48-22.

The first match of the night was a 106 battle as Ogden’s Caleb Wisecup battled Boone’s Tanne Weitzel. Wisecup did everything he could but fell in 5:55 via fall. However, the 113 match went Ogden’s way as Kolton Munson was able to get Jordan McCloud’s shoulders to the mat in 3:07.

Christensen selected for Iowa Shrine Bowl

There comes a time in a football player’s life when they have a chance to play one more game before they hang up the cleats. For Ogden’s Abraham Christensen, he will lace up those cleats one last time next year when he takes part in the Iowa Shrine Bowl.

Christensen found out last week when he got the letter in the mail, letting him know he was selected for the game after Ogden head coach Jacob Burger nominated him for it.

“It’s pretty cool,” Christensen said. “It’s neat to know and be part of that.”

Ogden crowns three champions at conf. tourney, competes in duals

It was a busy week on the mats for the Ogden wrestlers as they took part in three duals on Thursday night and turned around to host the West Central Activities Conference tournament.

The duals on Thursday night were at Panorama as the ‘Dogs took on the host school, AC/GC and Southeast Valley.

Ogden boys split two games last week

The Ogden boys basketball team took part in a pair of contests last week and came away with a win and a loss.

The Bulldogs started at home on Tuesday night against the Pleasantville Trojans. A shaky third quarter put the ‘Dogs behind the eight-ball the rest of the night as they fell in a 68-61 decision.

It was a high scoring first period as Ogden took a slim lead, 17-16. It continued to be an even contest through the second quarter, both teams scoring seven points, Ogden up 24-23 at halftime.

Bulldog girls continue to look for first win

It was another tough week for the Ogden girls basketball team. They battled in a pair of games last week, one at home and another on the road, and were unable to get that elusive first win of the year.

Ogden began their week at home on Tuesday night against the Pleasantville Trojans and the first half proved to be the difference in a 53-28 loss.
